Braided reins have been around sense Eve turned the snake loose on Adam. They have always been a thing of beauty for both rich and poor. Every braider has his version or style of braiding reins. I use the billet or button hole strap to attach the reins to the bits. This type of billet serves as a swivel to keep the rein from twisting or tangling in your hand. It problely works best on closed or single reins, but it does not hinder split reins. I use rawhide, cowhide and kangaroo. These materials may can be used in any combination, such as: rawhide knots on kangaroo overlay, rawhide knots on rawhide overlay, kangaroo knots on rawhide, cowhide, or kangaroo overlay, or use your own creation.
These reins are about 8 ft. in length [sometimes braid work will vary by a few inches] and 3/8 inches in diameter. Length and diameter can be made to your specifications
